Remodelling and renovation of a former presbytery, later used as a school canteen before being transformed into a family home.

This project involved the renovation of a longere which although habitable was in need of bringing up to modern day living standards. Along with re-planning the interior to provide larger living areas and bedrooms a large new stone fireplace was designed and constructed as a centre piece to the lounge to accommodate a wood burner. The building was completely insulated to contemporary standards and all the external windows and doors were replaced with double glazed units in a style to match the original.

The brief for this project was to take an old agricultural corrugated tin hangar and create an attractive and functional garage, store and covered recreation area. At the same time retaining and using the original wooden frame structure. The structure was re-partitioned and a first floor created. Sliding doors were fitted, the walls clad with Western Red Cedar and a zinc roof added. A covered swimming pool and a tennis court were then constructed on the site to compliment the whole complex.

Renovation and conversion of an ancient stone barn.

Originally a thatched stone barn and linen store this project required firstly the consolidation of the foundations and stone structure before renewing the carpentery of the roof and re-thatching. New dormer windows and a raised external terrace were also added as part of the conversion into a contemporary family home.

Renovation of a small barn with a new extension at Pluméliau.

The clients wanted to renovate this small barn to provide living accommodation in a contemporary style. A first floor was constructed inside the barn to provide bedroom and bathroom space and new window openings created to provide extra natural light. The extension was designed to both compliment the existing building and its surroundings and provide a sun lounge with covered terrace to take full advantage of the beautiful views of the Breton countryside.

House interior and facade reconstruction

This project located in Dinan required the complete internal renovation and reconstruction to the façade of the house and garage. the property had been badly damaged due to flooding and one of the conditions imposed on the renovation was that the original timber facade was to be reconstructed in masonry with a natural stone finish.

Roof extension/loft conversion

This extension to a small house near Dinan presented some particular difficulties as we were required to extend out from an existing roof over and onto an existing extension. Although the extension has a timber frame our clients requested they the external cladding not be in timber or require regular maintenance.

This eye catching classic style manoir formerly a private residence, has been converted (along with a number of out buildings) into luxurious holiday apartments. We have been responsible for carrying out not internal alterations and upgrading to apartments and the commercial kitchen but also bringing all fire, security and accessibility installations fully up to date.

A room with a view’ – a first floor extension to a modern house

The extension below is to the first floor of a modern house which overlooks a golf course. The project involves creating a new room in the place of an existing first floor terrace to provide lots of light and views over the golf course. The addition of a balcony and staircase provides access directly down to the garden below.
